I have seen some pretty perfect looking things in my life. A picture painted from the eyes of the artist. A big brother lifting his little sister up who had fallen from her swing. A gorgeous sunset just off the beach on a clear night. A Highrise building shaped and layered in the most beautiful glass and when the sunlight hits it, everything just sparkles. A cathedral with hand carved angelic images, stained glass windows, very high ceilings and stone pillars that have you gazing in awe. But if we were to take a closer look—none of those things are perfect. Somewhere—if made by human hands—there is probably a flaw hidden beneath the surface.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean we must be perfect. It means we have simply given our life to Christ and aim at being made more into His image and likeness—day by day. It means that we have asked Him into our heart and to show us the way to a more complete life in Him.
The Bible says—all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. On our best days and on some of our worst days—we understand that we are far from perfect—but we are Still Saved! We will mess up from time to time and we will get it right sometimes too. Being perfect is not a prerequisite for our salvation. God has never required us to be perfect—just to love Him enough to serve Him.
So, when things go sour sometimes for us, we have to stop being so hard on ourselves thinking we are no longer worthy of His love. Instead, remember that “All Have Sinned”. Remember, He may not care too much for our sinful nature, but our sin doesn’t make Him hate us either. No, we are still loved by The Father, and therefore—Still Saved! (Read Romans 3:23 kjv)
