What does it really mean to be locked down or burdened down in such a way that no matter what you do—you sink deeper and deeper—unable to free yourself?  In those times, if we really want to be free, we must seek out real help.  It’s in those times—a single decision to get out of your current condition is vital for you and to the ones who care about you too.

I’m reminded of a “matter”—they call quicksand (not the band).  Now, I have never been exposed to it, but I hear that when a person or thing gets stuck in it—the more they wiggle to get out—the deeper they sink. That sounds, in itself, like a horrible situation to be in.  Unless you have the right tools on you or close enough for you to reach—it is very difficult to get free.

To get out of this “matter” you will need something steady and strong enough to use to pull yourself out.  A strong branch that’s hanging down in your general area—is great.  This branch, if you can get close enough to grab it—could save you and keep you from sinking further.  But what if there is no branch in sight?  You could actually make another decision to call out for help in hopes that someone may hear you and come to your aide.

Here’s the thing.  Throughout our life, we may find ourselves in situations that can hold us captive unless we make a decision to decide to be free, instead of just hanging in there and letting the elements of life and its issues take us out.  Losing the desire to want to live happy, healthy, and free from life’s stresses, can prove to be harmful to our physical bodies, as well as our emotional states of mind.  It’s important to seek help when you need it.

Well, God is that help.  He is a present help for us in times of trouble.  All we have to do is say Help!  If we have the desire to be free—He can be a branch that we can grab on to—to pull ourselves out of every emotion that’s causing us to sink deeper and deeper.

This is something you have to do.  Are you—important enough to you? Then, please, don’t live your life sinking in sorrow, depression, dread, fear, or regret—ask God for help, and He will come to your aide.  He will keep you from drowning in whatever weighs you down!  Decide today—to Shake “Yourself” Loose and start living your life full of emotional freedom.  (Read Psalm 46:1 and Luke 4:18 NLT)
