If you had the opportunity or the power to change anything in your life, what would it be and are you sure? Would you consider changing the family you were born into, the city or state you live in, the career path you followed, the amount of money you make, or even your physical appearance or health? What about the house or apartment you live in—or why things happen like they do in this world? If you had the chance, would you think about making some definite changes to that as well?
There are so many things that could happen to us in life and to be breathing, talking, and walking are blessings from God. Even if we walk with a limp, speak with a slur, or breathe with difficulty at times—it’s far better than not at all.
The Bible says, in “everything” give thanks, because this is the will of God, in Christ Jesus, concerning you. See, we may not understand why things are like they are—but God has a purpose for them all. His purpose is not to punish us or torment us—the devil does that all by himself. It gets difficult continue to see all that you see, go through all that you do—while feeling helpless to change any of it, but there’s hope!
Think on this, things could always be worse than what they are right now. If we would remember to give thanks for the things that we have or have experienced—we will live far better lives. If we were truthful about some of those things—we’d have to admit that we made the wrong decision, the wrong choice, or walked through the wrong door. We may even have to admit that we blew off that small voice telling us no, this is not the right thing for you, and here we are.
See, God’s not asking us to give thanks for those things that burden us on a daily basis—He’s asking us to trust Him. If it’s His will for us—then He’s got us covered. He’s got His eyes on our situation and our condition at all times. Being content with such things as we have—proves that we trust God and His plans for our life. It means we understand that His decisions are probably far better than anything we could conjure up for ourselves.
Think on this…consider giving thanks no matter the condition or situation—because it could always be worse. Practice being content sometimes and your outlook on the things you think are so horrible, will begin to change in a positive way. Take the focus off of what’s driving your discontentment and begin to thank God for allowing it to not become any worse—while you continue to wait for Him to change it completely. Satisfied or Not—You Choose. (Read 1 Thessalonians 5:18 kjv)
