† A “Trusted Agent”

I don’t know about you, but I struggle at trusting people and sometimes things.  I know they say what they can do, will do, or that they will stand by their word.  Whether it’s an everyday product, agencies, or services, if these things are rendered by mankind there is always a possibility that they don’t live up to the hype.

Think on this for a minute—if you will.  Have you ever placed your trust in something that did not turn out to be what you thought it would be?  They did not do what they said they would do.  You purchased the item, but when you finally received it, it wasn’t worth the investment you made.  This can be very disappointing—to say the least.

The Bible records a time when Jesus taught the religious folk following Him around to criticize and judge Him for the works that He did.  No matter what He did, they tried to trip Him up on a technicality. He told them that they were of their father—the devil, and the lust of their father they would do.  In other words, they could not be trusted to carry out God ‘s will on earth for mankind.

When we give our lives over to the Lord to serve Him—do we make promises that we know we will not keep?  Do we come to Him saying, “Lord if You do this—I’ll do that”?  When He does what He said He would—do we still continue to serve Him with our hearts—or do we go back to doing what we were doing before?  Can the Lord trust us as “Trusted Agents”? Can He call us trustworthy?

A “Trusted Agent”, in my opinion, is someone you can rely on to do what they promised to do.  One that won’t quit when things get tough.  No, they will stay to finish the task or carry out its requirements—no matter what.  Will we honor our promises and do the things we know are morally right?   It’s time to make a conscience effort to be on God’s side—no matter what comes our way in this world.  Jesus is our “Trusted Agent”—can He call us His?
