† Lose the Limp

I was reading my devotion the other day and Joyce Meyer said that when things happen in our lives that upset us, discourage us, or even make us angry we obtain, what she called a “Loser’s Limp” and it ruins the rest of our day, or maybe even our week depending on what the issue was and for me she was spot on.  Her comments hit home and got me thinking about how I must look trying to navigate my way around in life with several limps.  She wasn’t referring to a physical limp but what she was really talking about was an emotional one—that can negatively affect us spiritually if I might add.

When a person walks around with a physical limp—it’s an indication that they’ve been physically injured.  Sometimes the injury will heal on its own in a few days or weeks, and you’re back to normal.  Other times the discomfort of the injury lingers on for quite some time and you may eventually need to see a specialist for treatment.

I could have my day planned out and the enemy of my soul uses a situation against me and my plans, and the next thing I know—I’m limping for the rest of the day.  I’m pouting, upset, and walking around not speaking to anyone.  I can stay in this slump for weeks if God, my Specialist, doesn’t help me through it sooner.

I encourage you to make a decision today, to “Shake Yourself Loose” and “Lose the Limp!” Don’t let the cares of this world or the effects of them—ruin the day that God has truly blessed you with.  As sure as problems come—they will also go.  Work with God to free yourself from the emotional injury you’ve encountered  and try not to carry it with you all day long.  Lose the Limp by shaking yourself loose and allowing The Lord to heal you from your pain! (Read 2 Corinthians 4:17 KJV)
